Now this should be easy – one of the wonderful things about little ones is how openly and directly they show us exactly how they feel (including at 3 a.m. when they’re screaming for a feeding…!…).
But there’s also that fundamental sense of whether something feels right or wrong, that starts very early in us. In fact, very young infants already show preferences, what they like and don’t like, and in that sense what feels right to them or not. This is a very important feeling – indeed, it’s the dawning of the “Inner Guide” that will lead to their making the choices that take the best care of themselves in life.
Here are some examples: “You feel safe and secure nestled in my arms;” “You want your ba-ba;” “you don’t like these mashed peas;” “your very angry and sad that I took away that Lego piece;”
